      News and blather:
8/28/08:
My projected street date for the CD is now Oct. 1. I think this is it! It's being mastered as I type this.

I have a few shows coming up, at the Sidewalk Cafe on Sept. 11 and at Goodbye Blue Monday on  Sept. 29. I will put together a CD release show for October; more info to come.

This month I've been sitting in with the Bogs Visionary Orchestra, and I'll be playing shows with them as a percussionist- harmonium-playing-backup singer. The first time I'll be with them live is Sept. 18 at Banjo Jim's on Ave. A. C'mon down! I think Curtis Eller is playing that nite too.

7/24/08:
Joy of joys! The mixing is finally done! Mark Ospovat and I have whipped a full album into shape, to be called "Songs about Birds and Ghosts." As soon as it's mastered I will be putting it out via the website, CD Baby, iTunes, etc. I am still hoping, though, that I will find a label to distribute the CD, and maybe even someone to put it out.

In the fall I'm hoping to tour behind the CD, and get myself out into the wider world. All suggestions of places to place, (and people to play with!) are welcome.

5/2/08:
I've added a link to the entire Phoning It In broadcast on the Music page; you can stream or download it.  I have to admit, I was wearing my pajamas when I played that set...I was very tired that night, so if you want to picture that, while listening, you just go right ahead.

I have a last-minute show on Wed., for Jezebel Music. I'll be playing at 9pm at Pianos Upstairs as part of Jezebel's Resonance series. The show is free, so come on down!! I won't be wearing pajamas.

4/20/08:
I've uploaded a new song, recorded at home, called "No Great Beauty." (I did have a demo of it up on the music page for a few weeks - this one's a bit better.) This song is not on the album, but just one of the new tunes I'm working on.

This week I'm playing live on "Phoning It In," which is on WMBR 88.1 FM out of Cambridge, MA. I will not be in Cambridge, but in Brooklyn, in my living room, singing into the phone line.  You can listen live at 7:30pm on 4/24, or listen to it via the archives of BSR the next day.

And, mixing of the album will start within the next couple of weeks. It's dusty, it's a construction zone, but we're working it the best we can.

1/26/08:
Back in the studio at last! It's sounding great, and I hope to be done with the whole album sometime in March.  If giant rats and persnickity Tascam machines don't defeat us, that is.

One show is scheduled right now for Bethel, CT in early March. CT posse, represent! And a new one for Union Hall on 3/18.

New Zoo Reviews

Here I am being buffeted by the winds of critical opinion

"Closing out the night was Elisa Flynn, a talented singer-songwriter performing in the purist strummed-steel-string-and-voice tradition. Flynn’s songs are deep, emotional excursions, straying away from conventional formats. Her well-composed songs convey an underlying sense of subtle darkness, as well as the gratifying notion that Flynn has crafted them for no one other than herself." – Jezeblog 5/8/08

"She’s an electric indie rocker - not your usual weepy acoustic chick - with a nicely unpretentious, assured voice like an urban version of the Walkabouts’ Carla Torgerson. She has an uncommonly good sense of melody, likes minor keys and reverb...Impatience, anger and frustration find their way into her smartly crafted, mid-80s style lo-fi songs along with a sense of humor. Catch her on the way up.

"Since we announced  Elisa Flynn a Radio Star in March, we have become ever more endeared to her work. People pause to ask "Who is THIS?" when we play her songs. Her music lingers, like the soundtrack to now only vaguely familiar moments of the past."   Church of Girl Radio

"This five  song set introduces Flynn as a talented guitarist and  songwriter with a distinct penchant for lo-fi deliveries and old-school punk stylings. The result is an addicting collection of music, both raw and rigid in its execution. And something tells me that's exactly how Flynn wants it."  Womenfolk.net

"Outspokenly post-punkish songster parading her trade via solo acoustic means, Elisa craftily communicates love and anger with wit and off-kilter, hypnotic rhythms. A  comedic edginess pervaded Elisa's set in a most enjoyable way."  Jezebel Songwriter Showcase review of 4/19/06 show

"High energy folksy pop abound! Elisa Flynn calls to us from the borough of Brooklyn. She  brings us that urbanized folk with authority carefully crafting each note with dramatic grrrl rock not far behind. An independent thinker who manages to really write some damn engaging tunes, Elisa Flynn is an artist who embraces alternative rock from the ‘80’s and ‘90’s putting her own unique spin on it. Fun!"  Smother.net

"The world needs more songs like this." Americana-UK.com
